It's a Small (Icon) World
I just noticed that the Web Developer Toolbar for Firefox is using the FamFamFam Silk icon set.
The Day The Routers Died
I found this hilarious video about IPv6 in a Valleywag article about the Ripe55 meeting.
Wrestling with OmniGraffle
As a Mac user, I have access to some pretty cool software. One of my new favorites is a Visio-like program called OmniGraffle. The demo version is fully functional with a limit of 20 items on the canvas; more than enough for testing or for small diagrams. I just bought a license because I needed more than 20 items for my OOP class.
I was exploring the stencils available built-in and as free downloads from the user community and found some neat web UI elements for wireframes. I thought about building a stencil of Gaia UI elements for the UI team to drag n' drop. This would take care of the major flaw in their mockups: a focus on prettiness and not on simple interfaces. However, I can't figure out if it's even possible to make a stencil element that can expand only in one direction. I saw you can do that with tables, but those are a Pro feature. Besides, I need to add custom styling elements which I don't think table support.
Does anyone have a solution?
Fame and Fortune: featured on YUI Blog
I'm a part-time member of the an informal web dev group here at Gaia. Though Joe P. is the only one of us (3 total) who was hired officially as a web dev, both Jakob and I spend time creating/debugging/consulting/mentoring on JS/CSS/semantic markup issues that arise on other people's projects.
