Perlessence
Life on Foot
One of the perks of my new job (more on the job itself in an upcoming entry) is the end of my commute by car. I bike a bit over a mile every morning to the Sunnyvale Caltrain station and take the train to University Ave. Between that and my great location in Sunnyvale, here's all those things I can do without a car:
- Grocery shopping (Safeway and cheap produce store)
- Get my nails/hair done
- Visit my bank
- Get my clothes dry cleaned
- Order Indian, Mexican, Chinese, Vietnamese, or pizza takeout
- Exercise (gym is 2 miles from home)
- Go to SF or downtown SJ via Caltrain
- Picnic at a park
- A ton more stuff that I haven't yet discovered!
Although I do care about the environment and am happy to be living a slightly more sustainable lifestyle, the main benefit is the enjoyment I get from being active. I exercise at the gym, of course, but it feels good to me to be moving, walking, carrying things just as part of my daily routine. My life is a perfect combination of urban convenience and suburban peace.

Don't steal my stuff.
